One year after his striking debut, Agosta—the “musician-non-musician” from Catania—returns with Reworks and Remixes, released via Space Echo Records.
This new album steps confidently away from his first, spotlighting the dynamic electronic scene that pulses around Mount Etna.

For this project, Agosta brought together key artists from Catania’s vibrant underground. Each one reimagines tracks from his debut, adding their unique sonic fingerprint. From the meditative house grooves of Apple 65 and Lady G (Butterfly Agosta’s Rework), to AN-AN’s dub-heavy take on Varanni—inspired by Grace Jones and Adrian Sherwood—to Galathea’s trippy, twilight-toned remix of Three Chestnuts, every track brings fresh perspective.

Other standout contributions include Salvo Borrelli and Reverend James with their Shaft-style swagger, Go.Soul.Map.’s smooth downtempo pop twist on Cellars, and Invisible Session’s rainy-day reinterpretation of Lady G, merging spoken word with nu-jazz sensibilities.

What emerges is a sonic mosaic—diverse in personality, yet unified by a shared vision: music that’s both visceral and soulful, with a distinctly Mediterranean soul running through it all.

These remixes aren’t just creative exercises—they’re deeply personal reinterpretations, shaped by each producer’s journey and rooted in a specific cultural backdrop. That backdrop? Catania, with its rich clubbing legacy: legendary venues like Mercati Generali, iconic events like Piatto Forte and Ritetroit, and connections to global tastemakers such as Osunlade, Gilles Peterson, and Rainer Trüby.
