A drummer and multi-instrumentalist active in the music scene for over 25 years. His musical research today draws from the deep roots of Afro tradition and the expressive freedom of jazz, two musical cultures that are integral to his identity.

Sankofa Soul is a musical project born from the fusion of jazz, Afro traditions, and the search for a deep connection between the past and the present.

The term “Sankofa” comes from the Akan language (spoken in Ghana) and means “to go back and fetch what is good” – an invitation to look to our past in order to better understand our future.

In an era where music continues to evolve rapidly, Sankofa Soul is a project that draws from a rich and multifaceted cultural heritage, while also embracing modernity and offering a universal call to awareness of our European roots. Each track of Sankofa Soul reflects Fabio Nobile’s experiences, studies, and roots, in a dialogue between past and present, the sacred and the profane, individuality and collectively.

Kalakuta Republic is a track that embodies the essence of Afro-jazz, characterized by a hypnotic 12/8 rhythm, typical of African musical traditions.

Its enveloping rhythmic structure blends with the expressive freedom of jazz, creating a dynamic and captivating mix through a contemporary lens. With Zuma Rock, Landed in Lagos, and I Read the Stars, we immerse ourselves in the Nigerian and Cameroonian music scene, where the influences of Fela Kuti’s Afrobeat and Manu Dibango’s distinctive sound intertwine. Meanwhile, Say Your Prayer Now highlights how the evolution of Jamaican reggae and its cultural and musical roots are deeply connected to Africa.
