Massimo Napoli is a DJ and producer from Catania, Sicily, deeply rooted in jazz and black music culture. He began his musical journey in the early ’90s, spinning funk, hip hop, and acid jazz in some of the most influential clubs in his hometown, playing a key role in shaping and spreading eclectic and sophisticated sounds throughout the Sicilian scene.

He was a founding member of the musical collectives Piatto Forte and Nero Espresso at the iconic Mercati Generali, and the driving force behind the Funky Summertime and Wintertime Festival held at Ma and Mercati Generali.

For over a decade, he served as curator and resident DJ of Home, a landmark event in the Italian club culture landscape, devoted to the alternative realms of Afro, soul, jazz, and deep house.
During this time, he shared the stage with legends like Moodymann, Osunlade, Gilles Peterson, DJ Spinna, King Britt, Rich Medina, Phil Asher, Theo Parrish, and many others.

As a producer and arranger, Massimo has released numerous tracks and co-founded the collective Koom.h alongside DJ Salvo Borrelli and musician Salvo Dub, culminating in an album released on the Big Sur label.

He has curated several acclaimed compilations focused on African and Brazilian sounds, including Feel the Beat: Afrofunk and Break n’ Bossa 7, introducing funk-infused vibes to these celebrated series.

His music has taken him across the globe, with extensive tours throughout Europe and the United States.

Massimo’s DJ sets are a journey through soul, funk, and afrobeat, seamlessly blending into modern electronic expressions. His sound is marked by a spirit of exploration and innovation, all while maintaining a strong connection to the timeless 4/4 groove.
