“Crazy Funky” marks the official debut of Tommy Soul as a producer — a track born from the desire to blend the groove of 80s funk and disco with a contemporary sonic approach.

A warm, dominant funky bassline drives the track alongside a vintage-flavoured, punchy drum groove, supported by modern electronic synths and sound details that firmly place it in the present.
The lyrics and vocal melody sung by Tommy Soul, reveal an unexpected falsetto, especially in the harmonic tension of the hook “make me crazy!”

The goal was to reinterpret the spirit of original disco productions and bring it into a modern, more electronic and club-oriented dimension, while preserving the analogue soul and authentic warmth of the sound.

The result is a track with a strong character: a relentless bassline, gritty vocals, an infectious groove, and an energy built for the dancefloor.

The two versions offer different perspectives on the same groove:

• The Disco Version is airy, spatial, and bright — rich in percussive layers for a unique disco feel, perfect for radio play as well.
• The Club Version is more direct and punchier, designed to dominate darker dancefloors and tailored for underground DJs.

“Crazy Funky” acts as a bridge between past and future:
on one side, the inspiration of 80s funk and disco productions — with thick basslines, tight drums, and minimal vocal melodies;
on the other, a modern electronic sound design influenced by the nu-disco, modern funk, and deep club scenes.

Pressed on 12” 45 RPM vinyl, Crazy Funky is a maxi-single built for DJs who want to ignite the dancefloor with a deep, authentic, and captivating groove.
Alongside the vinyl release, the single will also be available on all major digital platforms.

ANALOG MASTERING

The mastering of “Crazy Funky” was carried out entirely on vintage analog consoles and finalized to magnetic tape.
Each stem was treated individually through high-quality analog outboard gear, preserving the natural warmth and depth of the sound.

This old-school “as it used to be done” approach is an essential part of Tommy Soul’s philosophy: bringing back the physicality and organic feel typical of classic analog productions to modern electronic music.

The result is a full, warm, and authentic sound — with lively dynamics and a groove that breathes.
