ECHOES OF ITALY – THE AGE OF VOOM VOOM MUSIC

Born in Turin in the late 1970s under the direction of Ivo Lunardi, Voom Voom Music emerged at the intersection of club culture, experimentation, and entrepreneurial vision. A key figure in the Piedmont nightlife scene, Lunardi translated the energy of the dancefloor into a sonic identity that was eclectic, forward-thinking, and deeply connected to the international language of disco.

The label developed a distinctive sound shaped by the fusion of disco, pop, and rock with strong Afro-American influences. Funk grooves, soul textures, and rhythmic contaminations were not mere references, but essential elements of a musical approach that looked beyond borders. In this sense, Voom Voom Music was among the first Italian labels to embrace a truly global perspective, anticipating the evolution of dance music in the decades to follow.

At the same time, the Voom Voom Club—later known as Pick-Up Club—became the physical and cultural extension of this vision. More than a discotheque, it was a meeting point where artists, athletes, and clubbers converged in a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. Within its walls, music was not just played, but lived: a continuous exchange of sounds, identities, and experiences.
